“Daisy Jones and the Six” has officially received Stevie Nicks’ permission.
“I just completed watching Daisy Jones and the Sixth Sense for the second time. “It wasn’t really my story at first, but Riley seamlessly, quickly became my story,” the Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter said on Instagram on Tuesday. Daisy Jones is played by Riley Keough in the 10-episode Amazon Prime series.
“It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story,” she continued. It was a really emotional experience for me. I only wish Christine (McVie) had been there to see it. It would have been perfect for her. Hopefully, this trend will continue…”
The Emmy-nominated limited series, which debuted earlier this year on Amazon Prime, is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s 2019 novel of the same name.
Reid, who drew inspiration for the idea from Fleetwood Mac and other 1970s rock bands and artists, crafts a tale of how a fictional 1970s rock band dissolved after rising from obscurity.
“I began by listening to ‘Rumours.'” That was the start for me because it’s an album — as so many people have remarked — but it’s also a soap opera,” Reid told Penguin Books UK in 2019. “The stories between Stevie and Lindsey (Buckingham) and the things between Christine McVie and John McVie are really fascinating, and they show in the music.” So I began there.”
Riley Keough, Suki Waterhouse, and Camila Morrone from “Daisy Jones and the Six” reacted positively to Nicks’ message. Keough, Waterhouse, and Morrone each responded with a stream of emojis.
“Oh my stars, Stevie!! This means everything to the entire @daisyjonesandthesix team!” Thank you for blazing the trail!” Reese Witherspoon chimed in. The series was produced by Reese Witherspoon’s firm, Hello Sunshine.
